I'm looking for some pictures of old saloons for a project i'm working on. I really would like to find one that has the swinging double doors that are so popular in the movies. Does anyone know a good site that has some pics or does anyone have some they would let me use?
Somewhewre in my cluttered house is a 100+ page book of photos of Saloons in early Nevada. I'd suggest a local library as a good place to start. Also recall seeing lots of "then" and "now" photos taken from early post cards and later exploring and several saloons are featured. I don't recall ever seeing one of those "TV" swinging doors in real life, at least not in the early west (While people still rode horses). AND I suspect the reason is horses which meant flys and flys are a pain. I've seen several interior doors like that to partion of "cribs" from the bar area, etc. yes, I've been known to buy a beer (n a Brothel) in my younger day but don't ever recall a swinging entrance (exterior) door except on TV westerns and re-created places like Knott's berry Farm..
